Terry Bradshaw insinuates Cowboys should fire HC Mike McCarthy

Terry Bradshaw had a blunt comment about the Dallas Cowboys following the team’s 48-32 ugly playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.

The NFL on FOX crew discussed Dallas’ embarrassing showing during the postgame show. Bradshaw disclosed that he has a personal relationship with Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy. However, that did not stop Bradshaw from stating that the Cowboys have underachieved.

“I have a relationship with Mike McCarthy. I’m not going to lie to you, America — I like him. I like him a lot. It’s hard for me to say negative things about him. But at three seasons of 12-5 you would think would be enough," Bradshaw said. "As he walked off that field, and Jerry Jones being at 81 years of age, saying maybe to himself, ‘I’ve got to make a change now at head coach.’ Does he do that? Because this is a football team that, honestly, they’ve underachieved."

Bradshaw was blunt in stating that he felt the Cowboys have underachieved. He’s not alone.

Fellow FOX NFL personality Howie Long said the same thing about Dallas.

“You wonder why all the detractors of the Cowboys have fun every year. It’s the same story every year. Once again, it’s a repeat. This is a talented football team that’s underachieved,” Long said.

McCarthy has coached the Cowboys for four seasons. After going 6-10 in his first season, they have gone 12-5 three years in a row. They lost in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. They hammered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round in 2022 before losing to the 49ers in the divisional round. And this year, they went out in the wild-card round again.

To go 12-5 three seasons in a row and not advance past the Divisional Round of the playoffs is equal parts frustrating and disappointing. And like Bradshaw and Long said, Dallas is perceived as underachieving.
